Sisterly Advice?

This post is for S. Here's the outfit M was asking about Friday night. Do you still think she matches? Those are LSU pajama pants, peach cardigan, and Carhart socks.

Probably the last time you'll see the braces. They come off on Thursday.

A Gold and Some Silver

More precious than silver or gold!
M got a gold at the regatta this weekend. They looked amazing. I didn't take my camera out to the venue because it was raining off and on and I didn't want it to get wet. Check out her blog for some pictures. Mr. C took a video with his iPod. Hubby uploaded it to his computer and it's upside down.

Grandma O and Queen Bee met us in Georgia. But with the weather, they didn't stay for the race. They went on to South Carolina for some sightseeing and then stopped back by our house before heading home. So that was a quick visit.

We are on Spring Break and in the spirit of the holiday, Mother Nature has graced us with snow. UGG! It is actually sticking to the deck and roofs today. The roads are clear though. We need to go to AL to check on the house, but I want to wait until the end of the week when it will be in the upper 60s. (There was a bad storm, possibly tornado, down there last week. I'm afraid all the pine needles we just put down blew away.)

Finally for the silver. The first day of spring is our wedding anniversary. Usually we don't do big gifts, but this is our 20th. So Hubby got me a Pandora bracelet. I've never been much of a jewelry person, but maybe that is changing. What did I get him? A choice between bikes or kayaks. He is leaning toward kayaks, but we haven't bought anything yet. The idea is for us to take up a hobby that we can do together, and maybe get in shape at the same time. When we first got married we couldn't afford a honeymoon (we did go to a B&B in Madison), so we agreed that every five years we would take a big trip. For our 5th anniversary we went to California, for the 10th we went to Paris. We were supposed to go to Tahiti for our 15th, but instead we moved to Alabama (I think I got short-changed on that one!). The 20th was supposed to be Australia, and the 25th in the Holy Land. So things don't always work out the way we plan. Still, kayaking down the Tennessee River once the weather warms up will be pretty nice.

The Basket's Half Full

After more than a week of being under the weather, I am starting to recover and feel myself again. Hubby is living on Dayquil now though. I think I would have been okay if I hadn't gone to the doctor and got medicine. As a result, I ended up suffering the "side effects" of the medication longer than I would have probably just been sick.

M is at a retreat in town this weekend. Next week is the first spring regatta. We are going to Lake Lanier (along with Grandma O. and Queen Bee) to spend the night and see the race. M is in a lightweight boat. That means that all the girls have to be under 135. No problem for M. But one of the girls in her 4+ boat is a bit over right now. I guess if all else fails, M will be in a 2 boat.

Hubby, Mr. C, and I went to spruce up our "vacation home" in Alabama today. We put down 14 bales of pine straw and gathered 3 trash bags of weeds. The realtor was supposed to show the house this weekend, but I didn't see any evidence that she'd been there. The yard is in desperate need of mowing and we haven't had any luck getting any yard service people to call us back. I just keep praying that it will sell soon!

S seems to be doing fine at school. She will have to go all summer because she changed her major and needs to get on schedule to graduate on time. She has arranged her schedule to be able to keep babysitting, so that's good. I am forbidden from mentioning her "personal life" on here, so you can just use your imagination as far as that goes.

One more week until spring break!!!

Our Weekend Checklist

We've been busy little bees. A picture is worth a thousand words, or so the saying goes. So here are some pictures.
Painted the foyer this weekend, and cleaned the chandelier while I was up there.

Hubby filled in "the hole" and it is now ready for stain and a microwave. This is the "during" photo.
It's been snowing since Friday. We get about this much and then it melts. These are the iris that Mr. C planted with Grandma O last fall.
New Year's Resolution: check. Everything is organized and ready for work.
