My Marvelous Girl

Well I said I wasn't going to post very often and here I am a few days later. We started the weekend off with a trip to Knoxville to tour the University of Tennessee. What a great school. Marvelous loved it and has said it is now her only choice, although Daddy and I think she needs to apply to a couple of other schools to have a back-up plan. Lessons learned from Big Sister.

The weekend ended up with a roller-blading crash that took out a neighbor's mailbox and damaged their car, an ambulance ride, and a short stay in the emergency room. What could have been a broken hip turned out to be a sprained tendon with deep bruising. We are just so happy that M is relatively okay. She has some powerful pain medication and an anti-inflammatory steroid to take over the next week. The medicine was making her throw-up yesterday, but she handled it better today. I tried to get her to stay home and off the hip today, but she insisted on going to school.

And in the middle of it all, Smarty got home for Spring Break. Welcome home!

March

I'm thinking of posting once a month. If that is my stated goal then I won't feel bad when I don't put anything on here and I'll feel like an overachiever if I put up more stuff. So here goes for this month.
Taking traffic pictures
I only have two more photography classes left. I didn't get signed up for the intermediate class before it filled up so I will have to wait until July to take it. Sometimes we go on field trips. Tonight we are going to the park. I'm hoping to get some good reflection pictures along the river.
M in UT orange?
M is scheduling classes for her senior year and organizing her Capstone project. Every senior in our school district has to do a Capstone project their senior year in order to graduate. It can be community service or job shadowing. There also has to be a project/product to go along with it. M is planning on job shadowing a juvenile hematologist oncologist and then creating a brochure to describe what the job and training entails. I had to talk her out of planning a 5K to benefit childhood cancer research. Can you imagine what all goes into holding a 5K? I thought it was a little above and beyond what she could do. Looking toward M's future, we are heading to Knoxville to tour UT this weekend. This is probably where she will end up, although we are also considering MTSU in Murfreesboro as well. One last tidbit about Marvelous. She is getting braces next week and will be in them for 12-14 months. She is not happy about this. She started braces 5 years ago, but had to stop half-way through when the insurance wouldn't pay for them.

Mr. C started track yesterday. He said he is one of four 6th grade boys on the team, so I'm not sure if he'll even get to run in any meets. But by the time he is in 8th grade he'll be in good shape.

The fireplace is coming along. We have tiled the hearth, put up some wood paneling, and painted a little. I have also done some painting upstairs. The last couple of days I had to put everything on hold so I could watch all the back episodes of Downton Abbey while they were still available for free on PBS. I can't believe that I have to wait until next year for Season 3! I'm having withdrawal.

Hubby is doing the same old, same old. He starts German 2 this week, but other than that it is just work and household improvement.
I think that covers everything for now.
